The third avatar of Lord Vishnu | Varaha avatar

Lord Vishnu resting in Vaikunta

This story starts in Vaikunta where Lord Vishnu lives. One day Lord Vishnu was resting in Vaikunta and it was guarded by two doorkeepers name Jaya and Vijaya. They were very loyal to Lord Vishnu and don’t want to disturb him while resting.

At that time Lord Brahmas’s four sons arrived Vaikunt to meet Lord Vishnu, but as he was resting Jaya and Vijaya stopped them from entering the gates. Lord Brahma’s son gets angry and curses Jaya and Vijaya to be born as a human on Earth.

Jaya and Vijaya

Lord Vishnu arrived at the spot after listing some noises, he apologized for his guard and said they are just doing their job. But Lord Brahma’s son said - “but curse can’t be taken back” and they left. After that Lord Vishnu guided them that the curse will be lifted if you both get killed with my hand in human form.

Both jaya and Viajaya born as brothers named Hiranyakashyap and Hiranyaksha. Hiranyaksha was the great devotee of Lord Brahma and in return Lord Braham gave him a boon.

Hiranyaksha gets powerful and started torturing the people on Earth, he harassed devtas and invaded Indra's palace. Then Hiranyaksha grabbed Mother Earth, Bhudevi and submerged her in Patal Lok. Mother Earth sank to the bottom of the ocean.

After seeing this, Lord Brahma became worried and meditated on Lord Vishnu. A tiny boar fell from his nostrils and it grew and grew till it was the size of a large mountain. This tiny boar was ‘Varaha’.

Varaha Avatar

Emitting a terrifying roar, Varaha dived into the ocean and lifted Bhudevi with his tusks restored it to her place and then slew the demon Hiranyaksha. This way once again Lord Vishnu save humanity from evil by taking the third incarnation of Dashavatara.
